
Brian E. Reuther has been a police officer for over 34 years. He is the Chief Executive Officer for the Port St. Lucie Police Department, which is comprised of 260 sworn and non-sworn police personnel, 310 volunteers, and has a 34 million dollar budget.
Chief Reuther has previously commanded the Neighborhood Policing Bureau, Support Services Bureau, the Operations Bureau, and the Training Division. He has a Master's degree in Public Administration and a Master's degree in Human Services, graduating both times, with honors from the Nova Southeastern University. He is a graduate of the FBI National Academy, the "Senior Management Institute for Police" sponsored by the Police Executive Research Forum (P.E.R.F.), and the “Chief Executive Seminar,” sponsored by Florida Criminal Justice Executive Institute.
Chief Reuther is an adjunct faculty member at Barry University instructing in the Public Administration Program, and at Indian River State College, Criminal Justice Institute, instructing Leadership, Middle Management, and Budgeting. He has lectured extensively on Community Policing and Problem Oriented Policing in police agencies throughout the State of Florida, and has taught for Benchmark Professional Seminars.
